Kik for Kids?

August 5, 2015

Founded back in 2008, Kik has become very popular quite soon. This free instant messaging application allows its users to send and receive texts, share photos, video files, webpages, and other similar content. At the same time, the moto “Kik for Kids” makes it even more popular among children. Some of them even say that Kik is like Facebook for adults, but for kids.

However, despite all of its benefits, there are some essential issues, which prove that Kik is not safe for all kids, and you’d better prevent your little one from installing this app on his or her device.

First of all, let’s consider that for some reasons Kik is rated 12+ on App Store. It means it is not appropriate for those younger this age (who are kids as well) and the data shared via the application may contain explicit, sexual, or even violent content.

Let alone the fact that Kik is a widely used hub for sexting, cyberbullying, and online predators’ attacks. Though no one can reach your child, unless one knows his or her username, there is still a chance to guess it and send a message at random.

Anyone can register on Kik and pretend whoever he or she wants to achieve any fraudulent, abusive, or seductive purposes.

Child exploitation is a crucial issue on Kik. The app is a source of and a mean for sexting and sexual abuse. In 2014, a pedophile interviewed by The Trentonian newspaper stated about Kik: “I could go on it now and probably within 20 minutes have videos, pictures, everything else in between off the app… That’s where all the child porn is coming off of.”

Latter in 2015 a convicted sex offender warned parents about the Kik app: “The first thing that I thought was, ‘Wow! I can be whoever I want to be. I can get anybody I want. I can achieve my sexual glorification through this app.’”

The aforementioned means Kik is not a toy for your children. The app is dangerous and kids must be prevented from using it, at least unattended.

Can you monitor Kik messages?

Sure, you do! Moreover, it is your parental duty – to keep your eyes open and protect your kids. From our side, we can provide you with relevant support and reliable assistance. Our application is designed for such particular purposes. With its help, you will be able to monitor Kik account of your child and control his or her communication remotely.

The Kik text monitor by Pumpic logs all conversations and files shared, and sends it right to your Control Panel, where you can view them. As soon as you notice any sing of cyberbullying, fraud, or sexual abuse, you can block the app at once or take any other actions to avert a problem in the making.
